CABIN ONE

Noz and her husband Daniel purchased Cabin One, their Lake Tahoe home in Kings Beach, California, in December 2017 after failing to secure a Tahoe holiday rental for the second New Year’s in a row, and turning instead to the Zillow for-sale section out of curiosity and frustration. Built in 1972, the cabin was an interior designer’s dream: strong bones, with bathrooms and kitchens in dire need of renovation (cabinet doors literally falling off the hinges!).

Over nearly 6 years, the couple gut-renovated and decorated (and re-decorated!) every space in the home, taking inspiration from folk art, cuckoo clocks, and iconic vintage Pendleton spaces. Noz’s Convotatsu, created in 2020 for the House Beautiful Whole Home concept showhouse in Colorado, now serves as the dining-lounge piece – a full-circle (pun-intended!) moment given the family lived in this cabin throughout the pandemic! Sentimental details like Daniel’s childhood bunk bed come together with antiques and commissioned art pieces to bring to life Noz and Daniel’s shared dream of a vacation home in Tahoe, which they enjoy for quiet weekends and for holiday celebrations with loved ones year-round.
